NEED TO KNOW

Session 3 Extracurricular Registration NOW Open

Classes for session 3 will run from Monday, January 7-Friday- February 15.

Pizza Order Forms Due!

If you haven’t turned in your Heggies order form, do so no later than Thursday.  Payments must be turned in with the order form.

Boots Coming Home Every Night

Students should be wearing their snow boots home from school every day so that they are not left to be cleaned around by our night crew.   I know that it is convenient to have your kiddos leave their outdoor gear here during the week; but, we are hoping that by sending boots home we will have fewer boots in the lost and found and tidier hallways. And, let’s not forget the obvious, it is winter time and boots keep feet warm on the buses and while waiting for parents at the east door.  Thank you for reminding your child(ren) to wear their boots home and keep track of their belongings.

November Character Education Focus – Self Management

We define self-management as the ability to successfully regulate one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in different situations—effectively managing stress, controlling impulses, and motivating oneself. In our classrooms, we will remind students to get themselves ready for success. That looks like sitting by someone that will allow them to be successful, thinking about others before speaking or acting, and making sure they have control of their bodies. Self-management does look different at various grade levels. For instance, a middle school student should have better control of their emotions than most primary age students. However, that isn’t always the case, so it is our privilege to work with families in helping our DaVinci students grow into young adults ready to be productive members of society.

Effective Communication

We have identified a need for an assessment of our communications systems and would like parent feedback on areas for improvement.   If you would like to be a part of the ad hoc committee to investigate ways to streamline school wide communications please contact Holly Fischer.

Closings/ Weather Or Emergency

Emergency school closings due to severe weather, or any other reason, are posted on the school’s website, major news station websites and emergency postings, and announced via School Messenger texts and/or phone calls.  The decision to close school will usually be made before 6:00 a.m. on the day in question. PLEASE NOTE that our schedule is SEPARATE from Anoka-Hennepin ISD or any other school district.

Winter Performances and Informances

The DaVinci Academy Music Department is excited to share the 2018-2019 school year performance dates. This year, performances fall into two categories: evening concerts and daytime informances, both of which families are invited to watch. An informance gives students the opportunity to demonstrate the foundations of music by covering multiple state standards and showcases how music connects to other subjects. Along with evening concerts, informances will give students a well-rounded and meaningful learning experience.

Ever Wonder if your Silent Dismissal Number was Entered in to the System at the End of the Day?

The teachers who assist your children at the end of the day in car line would be greatly assisted if everyone who picked children up would use the Silent Dismissal app.   We often have trouble with phones freezing as teachers are entering numbers on cold days and parents can easily dismiss their children from the warmth of the car using the app.  So, if you are able, please contact the office to get set up with the Silent Dismissal app.  Thank you!
