Planning for the 2020-21 School Year
Dear DaVinci Community:
Yesterday Governor Tim Walz announced Executive Order 20-82 and shared Minnesota’s Safe Learning Plan for the 2020-21 school year. This is a localized, data-driven plan that prioritizes the safety of students and staff. The goal of this plan is to get students back into classrooms full time as soon as it is safe to do so. To view a video summary of our updates for today please click here.
The guidance for how we determine whether we are in a distance, hybrid, or in-person learning model is based on the rate of COVID-19 cases in our county over a 14-day period as well as our school’s ability to meet the requirements of each model based on space, staffing, and COVID mitigation strategies.
We are starting the first two weeks of our school year in a Distance Learning Model. We will be hosting a virtual open house on August 6. Please see below for the open house schedule. You will receive a video link from your classroom teacher prior to open house.
Virtual Open House – Thursday, August 6
Kindergarten 3:30-4 pm
1st Grade 4-4:30 pm
2nd Grade 4:30-5 pm
3rd Grade 5-5:30 pm
4th Grade 5:30-6 pm
5th Grade 6-6:30 pm
6th Grade 6:30-7 pm
7th Grade 7-7:30 pm
8th Grade 7:30-8 pm
We anticipate that based on the current data that we will be able to start in a Hybrid Learning Model on August 24 for grades K-8. We will notify you officially prior to August 11, 2020. Childcare for children of essential workers will also be available starting August 24. More details regarding childcare will be coming soon. Please note that families always have the option of choosing a full-time distance learning program for the year. If your decision has changed regarding the model of learning you are choosing for the fall since you filled out the family survey please email Terry Moffatt at tmoffatt@davincicharterschool.
With Care,
Ahava Silkey-Jones
