Session 3- After School Clubs & Activities

Registrations for session 3 of extra-curricular classes is now open.

Please register for classes offered by DaVinci Academy teachers using the button below and pay the office by check or cash for the class.  You can print your confirmation receipt and attach it to class payment.  If you do not receive a confirmation email please contact Holly Fischer at hfischer@davincicharterschool.org to make sure you are, indeed, registered.

Classes offered by external vendors will need to be registered for and paid for through them.  Links are available from each vendor.  The only OFF SITE external vendor class is Taekwondo.  All other classes are offered here.

Class: Bend, Balance & Breathe Yoga

Description: Develop your child’s intellect through the royal game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Also, chess has been proven to enhance children’s motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. No previous knowledge of chess is necessary. Each class will consist of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both beginner and experienced players are welcome and will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. There will also be a chess competition with prizes at the end of the session!

Description: This is a class for students that already know the basics of chess looking to challenge themselves. DescriptionDaVinci Dance program is established to help students learn basic, intermediate, and advanced forms of dance, work with a team, and build confidence! In this program students will experience movement, new skill sets, and learn choreography to dances.
There will be two performances during the Spring Season.

Students who have signed up for Dance during session 3 will automatically be re-enrolled in session 4. New students will not be added during session 4.

Description: Learn to code with Afterschool Enrichment Solutions! Both new and returning participants are welcome. This course will immerse students in the world of computer programming. Your child will have the opportunity to design games, explore animation, and combine music and art with coding. This class uses the block-based programming system Scratch, which was developed by the MIT Media Lab to teach programming concepts. Topics covered include event handling, coordinates, conditional statements, user interface design, variables, logic statements, and synchronization. In addition to teaching programming skills, this course will also nurture students’ creativity and problem-solving skills. No previous experience is necessary, just a desire to learn and have gigabytes of fun! Each participant will receive an award on the last day of the session, and will have the opportunity to earn Code Belts by demonstrating their learned skills!

Description: In Debate Club, students will gain exposure to the basics of Lincoln-Douglas Debate, a popular format in high school and college debate tournaments. Students will learn how to craft arguments to support both sides of a resolution and how to debate without it becoming personal. They will hone their skills of rhetoric and logic. We will also hold debates between members of the club. Learning the basics of debate is a great way for students to prepare for rigorous high school courses (such as Advanced Placement classes) that require students to express a point of view and support it with evidence.

Ski Club

Eight Friday nights at Trollhaugen for 6th-8th graders, 5th if parent skis along.

  • January 4, 11, 18, 25
  • February 1, 8, 15, 22

The bus will leave DaVinci Academy at 2:30 p.m. and return to DaVinci Academy at 9:00-9:15 p.m.

**Skis are not permitted on the Kottke’s buses so if your child has equipment you will need to transport it.
