The purpose of the Uniform Policy is to minimize distraction and focus students’ attention on their work at school rather than their attire, and to project a unified school image, which is proper and neat in appearance, reflecting the important work of the school. Parent Communication through Bloomz
One of our goals at DaVinci Academy is to create a strong sense of community among our families and to use communication tools that support that sense of community. Unfortunately, some of the applications we have used create a public forum which may put our school at risk of liability and also at risk of encroaching on the privacy of our parents and students. As you know, we also face this challenge with our students as they learn to negotiate social media and are always looking for ways to keep our community safe.
Recognizing that Bloomz may result in that type of risk, we were recently advised by legal counsel to turn off settings that allow parents to post publicly. We understand that this was a valuable tool to allow parents to connect with each other to build community, so we are looking at ways for parents to share information with one another in a safe way.
One idea is to appoint a room parent (or parents) for each classroom.  ; The room parent’s job would be to call all of the members of that classroom and get opt-in permission for contact information to be shared with the group. They would then publish a class directory of families who opt in to the directory.
If you are interested in serving as the room parent for your class, please contact your child’s teacher so that we can put this system into place.

Nice to Know
From August 27 through 29, the middle school students and teachers traveled to the Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center in southeastern Minnesota. As always, students loved the hands-on learning experiences of the Eagle Bluff classes. Some classes included “Pond Life,” “Wildlife Ecology,” “GPS,” and “Pioneer Life.” Adventure classes like canoeing and the “Treetops” rope course were especially big hits with the students. While we ran into some rainy weather, the students took it in stride and smiled through the downpours!

Silent Dismissal – New, Earlier Deadline for Changes
To ensure that any middle school student transportation changes get to your child by the beginning of their last class, any same day changes must be made earlier than previous years. From either the Silent Dismissal site or the app, you may make changes to your child’s dismissal method for the current day until 1:30 p.m. After that time, changes will not be accepted into the system. Please call the office with any changes after 1:30 p.m.
