NEED TO KNOW
Artist in Residence, Michael Jones
Mr. Michael Jones joined DaVinci Academy for a two week residency this December. During that time many students and staff had the opportunity to work with him, learn new dance steps, and have a lot of fun. So many students who were hesitant at first really stepped out of their comfort zone to try something new. Some discovered hidden talent and others discovered that they might actually enjoy being a part of a musical theater production in the future.
Thank you Mr. Jones for sharing your talent, passion and enthusiasm. We look forward to working with you again.
Winter Weather is Upon us!
- A wind chill of 35 degrees below zero or air temperature of 25 degrees below zero
- If heavy snow and/or icy conditions make it extremely hazardous or impossible for school buses to travel their routes and for employees to get to work safely
School Lunch Payment Change Coming Soon
- Stay out of the bus danger zones or blind spots for the driver.
- Remain seated and keep the aisles clear during the bus ride.
- Keep the noise level at a 1 or 2 and only use appropriate language.
- Do not eat or drink on the bus, as we want to be mindful of allergies of others.
- While at the bus stop, practice good behavior that is safe for everyone.
This time of year there are many sales on phones, tablets, and computers. Whether you are considering a device for your child, or if your child already has a device, I have some resources below that I have used as a parent to guide my own children in navigating the world of technology.
Need Ideas for the Kids Over Winter Break?
NICE TO KNOW
RECESS TIME REMINDERS
We will be going outside each day for recess if the windchill factor is at 0 or above. If your child is not dressed appropriately, they may not be able to fully participate in the snow fun.
EVERY DAY YOUR CHILD SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING (PREFERABLY LABELED):
- Snow Pants
As we approach the coldest time of the season, we are preparing for more indoor recess. It is always our main goal to let the students play outside as that helps to get the wiggles and giggles out. With indoor recess, the students will have options. They can use classrooms and pod areas for board games and other activities, or, we will have the PAC open for a movie. Our January-February movies are all rated G. (K-5):
- Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame
- Disney’s The Jungle Book
- Disney’s Aladdin
After School Reminder
All extracurricular activities end at 4:30 pm. Only students enrolled for an extracurricular activity can stay after school. Unattended siblings are not permitted to remain at school and wait until 4:30 pm to be picked up. Teachers, Coaches and Activity Teachers are not available to supervise non-participating siblings. Please do not request that they do so. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact the office.
