DaVinci Connection – April 21, 2023

Dollars-for-DaVinci Update

Our Dollars-for-DaVinci fundraiser is off to a great start. We have raised almost $11,000 towards our goal of $50,000.

How are funds raised?

  • Doing extra chores around the house
  • Asking family, friends, and neighbors for donations
  • Helping neighbors or grandparents with chores at their house
  • Parent-employer corporate matching

Keys to Success!

  1. Have your student(s) set a goal for themselves! How much do you want to raise?
  2. Help them set a plan to reach that goal! How will you accomplish this?
  3. Track and celebrate your progress. Keep up the great work!
  4. Victory! You did it!

Consider donating today at: https://www.paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/1713886

Corporate donor matching is a great way to help us reach our goal. Parents, be sure to check with your employer to see if they offer a donation matching program.

Thank you for your support!

Celebrate Children’s Book Week

April 24 – April 28

Throughout the week students will enjoy book-related activities (see Flyer for details) as we spend extra time reading in our classrooms and celebrating all the things we love about reading and books!

Red Balloon Book Fair will be set up in the library for the whole week.  Elementary students will be able to purchase books during their library specials time; middle school will come with an advisory class. Families can also purchase books via an online virtual fair or during Thursday’s Literacy Night.

During the school day on Thursday, April 27, K-5 will have “Dress like a Book Character” while Middle School will be able to have “Read My Shirt” dress-up day. If students are not dressed up as book characters or have a shirt with text, they should wear their uniform instead.

Book week fun extends to after school on Thursday with Family Literacy Night and the annual Talent Show. There will be outside events happening at DaVinci from 4-6 p.m., as well as some indoor activities for families starting at 5 p.m. The Talent show for students in grades 4-8 p.m. in the PAC starts at 6 p.m. The Red Balloon Book Fair will be open in the Library as well!

We are excited to celebrate Book Week at school! Please reach out with any questions. Thank you!

Family Night In; Family Puzzle Competition

We are so excited to have another awesome community event this spring. At our first Family Night In we had over 400 people in attendance! On May 4, from 6-8 p.m., we will be having another community night. The equity committee will be hosting another Family Night In and this time it will be a movie edition. We are partnering with the PTO sponsored Family Puzzle Competition. Look for more information on Bloomz coming soon which will include the movie title.

We hope to see you there!

Teacher Appreciation Week

photo of Jack ShieldsWe will honor our teachers and staff at DaVinci during the week of May 15-19, 2023. Teacher and staff appreciation week is a great opportunity to send cards, letters, and emails to the staff members who work with your children to express your gratitude for the work they are doing to partner with you in the education of your child.

As a school leadership team, we are planning a few things to honor our teachers and staff, and we could use your help. If you would be willing to volunteer your time to assist please reach out to Lindsey Gable, our volunteer coordinator. If you are willing to donate items towards a coffee bar and make-your-own trail mix stations, please see the attached signup genius link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E4AADAC22AAFEC61-teacher

Thanks!
