Coronavirus Concerns

To DaVinci Academy Staff, Students and Families:

The Coronavirus has been a topic of discussion both locally and nationally. We want to assure you that if the Coronavirus begins to impact Minnesota or specifically, DaVinci Academy, that we will follow the guidance of the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Minnesota Department of Health, and Minnesota Department of Education.

At this point, the recommendations are similar to other respiratory infectious viruses such as influenza:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with your elbow or a tissue and throw the tissue in the trash.

In the event that Coronavirus becomes an issue that impacts the school day, we will notify you.  DaVinci Academy is prepared to take action to protect the safety of students and staff in the scenario that action needs to be taken.

Please reach out if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Ahava Silkey-Jones

Executive Director

Online Payments for School Expenses Now Accessible

Families can now make online payments for lunch accounts and activity fees through their parent campus on Infinite Campus.  If you have not setup your parent campus account, please contact Brandee Palmer for assistance.

Charges for events like field trips or extra curricular activities will still be assigned to your child’s Infinite Campus account.  The new feature will include a button to add those charges to a cart and pay for them online.

Why parents need access to their parent campus account:

  • Update family information
  • Update emergency contacts
  • Fee payments
  • Food service payments
  • Check grades, assignments and missing assignments (This is very important for middle school.)
  • Apply for Educational Benefits
  • View your child’s schedule

Outside Attire cartoon cold weather clothing

At this time of year, the temperature outside can really fluctuate.  See the list below for clothing recommendations.  If there is snow on the playground or field, regardless of whether students would like to play in it, they need to wear snow pants and winter boots.  If they do not have snow pants and winter boots, they will still go outside but will need to stay on the sidewalk and blacktop.
Students will go outside for recess every day, as long as the temperature is 0 degrees or above and the windchill is -10 degrees or above.
  • 60 degrees or higher – short/long sleeve shirts
  • 46 to 59 degrees – light jacket/hooded sweatshirts
  • 45 degrees or lower – winter coat, hats and gloves
  • Snow pants and boots required when there is snow

If providing your child with winter gear is a financial burden for your family, please contact the school.

Session Two Extra-curricular Activities

The last day of session two activities ends Thursday, March 12.  Please remember to change your child’s dismissal settings once the class is done.  Session three extra-curricular classes will start Monday, March 23.
