Amy Wietgrefe grew up in St. Paul. She attended the St. Paul Public Schools, where she was in an American Sign Language immersion program from preschool through middle school. She graduated from Como Park Senior High in 2003. Amy then attended Minnesota State University Moorhead where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in special education in the areas of Developmental Cognitive Disabilities, Physical Impairments, and Other Health Disabilities. She then went on to take additional classes at the Master's level at Hamline University, where she completed her license for Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Prior to joining the DaVinci Academy staff, Amy taught middle school in Richfield, a K-5 Level-3 program in Mounds View and 3rd-5th grade in Minneapolis. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling to new places to learn about new cultures. Amy also loves cooking and baking, she considers herself quite the "foodie." What Amy loves best about the DaVinci Academy family is that it is a tight-knit community and that every teachers' passion for kids and teaching is highly evident.
