Zachary SornensonNicole Hartfield
Coming to DaVinci Academy as a first-year teacher, Zack Sorenson is an emerging music educator from Blaine, MN. An accomplished saxophonist, he has played with the North Dakota State University Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble I, and Gold Star Quartet in both the baritone and soprano chairs. The Gold Star Quartet has toured public schools in Bismarck, Fargo, and the Twin Cities, performed in the 2017 regional North American Saxophone Alliance convention and a masterclass with Otis Murphy, and competed in the 2016 MTNA chamber competition, winning at the state level. He has also performed with the Fargo-Moorhead Kicks Band, a jazz-fusion combo, and the Temptations. Zack also plays keyboard, bass guitar, violin, and percussion, and has arranged music for big bands, jazz combos, and more. Mr. Sorenson graduated summa cum laude from North Dakota State University in May 2018 with a B.S. in Instrumental Music Education and a minor in Vocal Music Education. Over the summer he works on the Leadership Team at Bemidji MusiCamp, and in his spare time he likes to run, bicycle, and care for his Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Oliver.
