NEED TO KNOW
Voter Guide
Voting for the School Board starts on Monday, February 11. All eligible voters can print the ballot below and paper ballots will be available in the school office as well. Please take some time to use these pictures to put a face with a name and read through the applications in the Voter’s Guide. Remember, this is one of the many benefits of going to a charter school – you get to be actively involved in shaping the direction of the program.
2019-20 Academic Calendar – It’s Been Approved
Thank you PTO and Parents
For those people who “sponsored a teacher” for the holiday party, and for the PTO who donated towards the party, we send a huge thank you. The evening was great fun and we all appreciated being able to spend time together outside of the school day.
Mr. Shield’s Corner
Each month at DaVinci we highlight a character trait, and this month the character trait we are focusing on is “Curiosity”. Curiosity is a natural trait in all of us, and our hope is that we can encourage students to be curious about the world around them. We want them to keep asking questions and have that deep desire to learn and grow. As educators, we encourage parents to foster that curiosity in their children by being curious themselves. Ask questions about the world around you, and then you can search for answers together as a family. We will hold an assembly for our students on February 28 that celebrates curiosity as a lifelong character trait.
Intersession 2019
Due to a change in our calendar for next year, this spring we will be holding our very last Intersession week. It will run May 20-23 and registration will open Monday, April 1. Not sure what intersession is all about? Here’s a link that can tell you more about what we’ve offered in the past.

NICE TO KNOW
K for Kindness – SPARK in the Parking Lot
Thank you so much to parent Trevor Olson, and students Charlie Zender and Ryan Kollbaum, for spontaneously brushing snow off staff member cars in the parking lot this week. So many people were blessed with your kindness to begin a snow filled commute home. Love that DaVinci SPARK!
Global Play Day 2019
Wednesday, February 6, was Global Play Day. This day was created by educators in a grassroots effort to support unstructured play time for students around the world. You can find out more about the movement by watching Peter Gray’s TEDx video on the decline of play in our culture. Here are some of our classes celebrating with play.

Report Card Update-We’re Going Paperless!
The report card you receive in March, at the end of Trimester 2, will be the last report card to be mailed. We currently give parents the opportunity to read mailed paper grades and view grades through the parent portal on Infinite Campus. Trimester 3 grades will only be able to be accessed online. Parents will need to log in to the parent portal > select a student > then “Grades” on the menu on the left side of the screen.
If you have not set up your parent portal account, please call the office to receive your activation key.
Ever Wonder if your Silent Dismissal Number was Entered into the System at the End of the Day?The teachers who assist your children at the end of the day in car line would greatly appreciate if everyone who picked children up would use the Silent Dismissal app. We often have trouble with phones freezing as teachers are entering numbers on cold days, and parents can easily dismiss their children from the warmth of the car using the app. If you are able, please contact the office to get set up with the Silent Dismissal app. Thank you!
